Objective Statement for the Systems Thinking Channel
MISSION
The Systems Thinking Channel is NTARI's research initiative dedicated to exploring the complementary relationship between systems thinking methodologies and network theory applications. We examine how holistic perspectives on complex systems enhance network-based approaches through collaborative research, multimedia content creation, and practical applications. By investigating the principles of emergence, feedback loops, and system boundaries alongside network dynamics, we develop integrated frameworks that strengthen NTARI's ability to address complex global challenges.
OBJECTIVES
Develop multimedia research outputs that illuminate the synergies between systems thinking and network theory
Create accessible educational resources that introduce systems thinking principles to the NTARI community
Apply integrated systems-network approaches to analyze complex social, ecological, and technological challenges
Document methodologies for combining systems thinking tools with network analysis techniques
Explore how systems thinking enhances the design and implementation of cooperative digital infrastructures
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate volunteer researchers investigating systems thinking methodologies and applications
Produce monthly multimedia research for publication through Node.Nexus
Guide general researchers in creating cohesive, academically sound content
Maintain scientific objectivity while exploring diverse systems thinking traditions
Facilitate peer-to-peer review of volunteer research contributions
Document the application of systems archetypes to network-based cooperative systems
Connect research to practical applications across NTARI's programs, particularly Forge Lab initiatives
Submit monthly records to the NTARI Secretary as required by Bylaws
Synthesize quarterly objectives aligned with NTARI's mission standards
Collaborate with other channels to integrate systems perspectives into their research
GOVERNANCE
This channel operates under the Network Society Program's three-tiered volunteer framework with oversight from designated Lead Research Assistants who report to Volunteer Information Managers. All research activities must align with NTARI's Bylaws and the Network Society Program Charter, particularly regarding scientific integrity and appropriate content filtering. The Mission-Objective-Key Results (MOKR) framework guides all channel activities, with regular documentation submitted to the NTARI Secretary as required.
EVALUATION METRICS
Quality and academic rigor of published research outputs
Integration of systems thinking methodologies with network theory applications
Diversity of systems approaches represented in channel content
Peer review scores of published multimedia content
Cross-channel collaboration effectiveness
Practical applications of research in NTARI's programs and projects
Consistency in meeting monthly publication requirements
Alignment with NTARI's quarterly mission standards
This objective statement serves as the guiding framework for all volunteers participating in the Systems Thinking Channel and may be amended through processes outlined in the Network Society Program Charter.
