The Network State

We recognize The Network State as one of the first descriptions of what we intuitively knew was possible with the internet when we started building the Agrinet Project. Published in 2022, we devoured this work and used it to describe the Institute until we found the Collective Intelligence Project and MIT's Center for Collective Intelligence.

Blockchain is based on the Byzantine Generals Problem by Leslie Lamport, Robert Shostak, and Marshall Pease, who first formally described the problem in their 1982 paper "The Byzantine Generals Problem" published in ACM Transactions on Programming Languages and Systems. Click the photo to read it

TNS is writted by Coinbase founder Balaji Srinivasan and is worth the read for anyone interested in collective intelligence, network theory, and network society.

The Network Theory Applied Research Institute is not a network state. We're a nonprofit collaborative technology company. After reading TNS, see our related discussion on Network Societies vs. Network States.
