Network Society Vs. Network States

Writer: Jodson GravesJodson Graves

This discussion places two of our major intellectual inspirations in contrast-- Balaji Srinivasan and Divia Siddarth and the Collective Intelligence Project.

The article is authored by CIP' Siddarth, Glen Weyl, and Anne-Marie Slaughter. They critique Balaji Srinivasan in some of the same ways we have in the past, but where the CIP team distinguishes itself in their comprehension of economics.

While Srinivasan certainly understands money and finance, Siddarth and company rise slightly above them while he remains firmly within their constraints. As detailed in my recent post for By the Board 2025, money is a communications tool but the mechanisms for it's distribution and management are based essentially in the Stone Age.

Srinivasan and Siddarth both add a great deal of value to the noosphere and technosphere of our planet. One helped give us early digital transaction tools, while the other keeps them honest by observing the negative externalities of money and currency still need to be addrrssed.
